Calling all budding Marine Biologists! This camp takes marine biology skills to the next level through hands-on activities. Students sail aboard Northwest Maritime Center vessels while doing scientific investigations. Ashore, students participate in intertidal surveys and labs in the touch tanks and exhibits. Campers work together as a team while learning to be stewards of the marine environment.

Health and Safety

Washington State & Jefferson County Guidelines
The safety of your children is always of the utmost importance to us. We have carefully reviewed COVID-19 health and safety guidance from the CDC, Washington State Department of Health, Jefferson County Public Health, and the American Camp Association in developing our safety policies and procedures for running camps this summer. Of course, as this is an ever-changing situation, we’ll keep you updated on any changes in protocols and procedures.

Before Camp:

  • Masks will be worn by campers and staff indoors at all times, and outdoors during activities and any time a 6’+ physical distance isn’t possible
  • Health screening form to be completed by all campers prior to admission to camp
  • Group sizes have been reduced to 10 people total per session (8 campers, 2 PTMSC staff)

During Camp:

  • Daily health screening on arrival to camp; temperature checks
  • Masks will be worn by campers and staff indoors at all times, and outdoors during activities and any time a 6’+ physical distance isn’t possible
  • Modifications to activities to allow for physical distancing indoors & outdoors
  • Modifications to activities to maximize time spent outside and minimize use of shared equipment
  • Daily cleaning/sanitizing of indoor surfaces and shared equipment
  • FOR FULL DAY CAMPS: Hours shortened to 10:00am - 3:00pm to allow time for additional cleaning
  • FOR HALF DAY CAMPS: We will only be running one session (AM or PM) per week, instead of both

PTMSC Cancellation Policy for Day Camp
In the event that you can’t make it to camp, PTMSC is happy to refund 75% of the full cost of camp retaining a 25% cancellation fee provided the cancellation request is made at least 30 days prior to the start of camp. After that date, if you need to cancel for health reasons, including potential Covid-19 exposure in your household or the camper's household, please email for a refund.
