Location: Natural History Exhibit Portico
Date: April 14, 2018
Join us at the Port Townsend Marine Science Center's Natural History Building to celebrate Citizen Science Day, Saturday, April 14th with an iNaturalist BioBlitz.
A BioBlitz is an intensive 24 hour study of biodiversity in a specific location. We will spend the morning outside around the Port Townsend Marine Science Center in Fort Worden State Park looking for and recording birds, mammals, fish, invertebrates, trees, flowers, grasses and more.
People of all ages and skill levels are welcome! Please download the free iNaturalist app and create an account before arriving. Observations can be made during the event with a smart phone, or use a camera and upload your photos afterward at https://www.inaturalist.org/.
9 am: Meet at the PTMSC Natural History Exhibit. We’ll make sure everyone’s set up with iNaturalist and ready to blitz.
9:30 am – 12 pm: We’ll split into groups and head outside to make observations.
12:15 pm – 1 pm: Wrap party! Come back together, help each other make IDs, find out how many observations we made, celebrate! (You can continue to make observations on your own and contribute to the project for the rest of the day!)
