On International Coastal Cleanup Day, volunteers from around the world will work together to keep our oceans and the life in them as healthy and diverse as possible.

In partnership with WA CoastSavers, the Port Townsend Marine Science Center is sponsoring 2 beach cleanups, in Port Townsend and in the Port Hadlock area. Volunteers collect and sort debris as well as contribute data on their findings to the Ocean Conservancy’s international database.

As our way of saying thanks, the first 100 participants will receive a free pass to the PTMSC Aquarium and Museum, a $5 Gift Card for the PT Food Coop, and $1 off coupon for any item at the Keg and I.

Cleanup and check-in locations

Join us at either of our cleanup check-in locations, Fort Worden State Park or Chimacum Corner Farmstand! From these locations, you will be given directions to beach cleanup areas and supplies like trash bags and gloves.

Fort Worden State Park:
From 9am-1pm, you will find our check-in table outside the PTMSC Museum Building, underneath the red and white striped tent.
From here, we will be sending participants to local beaches throughout Port Townsend.

Chimacum Corner Farmstand:
From 9am-1pm, you will find our check-in table in the parking lot at 9122 Rhody Dr. Look for our signs and pop-up tent!
From here, participants will have two cleanup options.
Option 1 – Beach Cleanup! We will be sending participants to local beaches throughout the Greater Port Hadlock area.
Option 2 – Roadside Cleanup! We are partnering with JeffCo Trash Task Force and will be sending volunteers out to pick up debris along pre-selected roads. This means we can collect trash before it becomes marine debris!
Option 3 – Remote Cleanup! Are you feeling up for trekking a few miles on the beach and carrying a load of debris on your back? Well, this option is for you! We are putting together one or two small groups to clean up more remote beach locations. For more information on what this would entail, reach out to Mandi at mjohnson@ptmsc.org.

Return to your check-in location
