The Ocean’s Menagerie: How Earth’s Strangest Creatures Reshape the Rules of Life (2025)
by: Drew Harvell

Discussion: Sunday, September 13 at 2 pm

They can be squishy or firm, some free-swimming, some sessile, and others can even be all of these things through their life cycles. Invertebrates- these spineless creatures have an array of unique traits. From jellies and corals to clams and chitons, the ocean is full of them. The author takes us across the world to explore their lives and the adaptations that make them so incredible. Let’s dive into sea slugs that steal spicules from sponges, anemones that can clone themselves, and corals that commit chemical warfare. The realm of invertebrates is certainly vast and interesting.
