Marine Naturalist
FALL INTERNSHIP POSITION

Where:            The Port Townsend Marine Science Center, PTMSC, is a public, non-profit marine education organization located in Fort Worden State Park on the Olympic Peninsula.   The PTMSC operates two facilities, the Marine Exhibit is a small hands-on aquarium filled with live nearshore animals and plants and the Natural History Exhibit featuring shorelines, past and present, with an emphasis on geology.  The PTMSC is an educational and scientific organization devoted to understanding and conserving our marine and shoreline environments.

When:             August 26th – October 31st, 2008 Weekdays and weekends

Description:  
Lead hands-on education programs for school groups
Lead interpretive tours/programs in both exhibits
Maintain tanks & aquaria, care for animals and keep exhibits clean
Work with docent team
Develop independent projects and/or conduct independent research as time allows

Qualification:
Must be able to work with diverse audiences
Must have marine science, natural science or environmental education background
Must be energetic, self-motivated and willing to learn
Must have current CPR and First Aid certification
Must be an independent and team worker
Must be well organized
Must have excellent verbal communication skills

Provided:
1000$ Stipend
Rustic housing or additional housing stipend of $75/week
